Hello Reader, It's been a beautiful, long, hot summer here in the UK and it looks like I took some time away from writing and social media to be with my family and to enjoy it! And here, as the weather turns cooler and rain appears in the forecast, finally, I'm popping into your inbox again. This time of year, as we approach the start of another academic year, has traditionally, for me, meant an increase in thinking along the lines of 'what's next...' When the kids were little, and when I moved from being employed to self-employed, that narrative seemed very serious. It always came following a lovely period of relaxation and enjoyment over the summer months. (If you're employed you might recognise it as a holiday comes to an end, or if you work Monday - Friday, to that 'Sunday evening feeling'). The dread in the pit of the stomach. The anticipation of what's next, or for me, what I 'should' be doing (clearly not enjoying myself and having fun because that needed to come to an end). Thank goodness I know what that is now. Simply old, habitual, societal thinking that appears to be true and hooks you in to ensure full attention is paid to it. But what if it is simply that? Old. Tired. Stale thoughts that really require no attention whatsoever? What if you never had to give those thoughts another moment of your time? Wouldn't life feel more free, immediately? And what might happen from there? The great news is that you never need pay attention to any thoughts that appear to create a contraction in the body. Why? Because they don't mean anything about you; they are simply 'objects' known to you. And without them, life will not go awry. In fact, when less attention is paid to thoughts and more attention is paid to what knows of the thoughts (that which never changes - what you really are), life unfolds beautifully. How do I know? Because I'm continually experimenting and finding out for myself, and I encourage you to do the same. I've made it very easy to do that with my Intuition Experiment. Both a book and an online community; it encourages you to notice what you pay attention to, and record and share what happens as a consequence of that. When we pay attention to old, stale, conditioned thoughts, what happens? When we pay attention to alive awareness, knowing, or intuition, what happens? There is no 'right' or 'wrong' way here...simply noticing. And with noticing comes a deeper, natural desire for that which feels 'good'. Silent RetreatThis Autumn I have another way to connect to that which never changes and is always present; a silent retreat. I'm teaming up with Amy Rogers, author of Happy Happens Here, to offer time and space, away from devices and distractions, in beautiful Devon countryside, to rediscover yourself. Not the noisy self that you may be incredibly familiar with; but with the quiet knowing that lies before that; before all the thoughts that tell you what and who you are. The details are still being finalised but what we do know is that there will only be 6 spaces (because we're holding it at Amy's beautiful campsite on the edge of Dartmoor and she only has 6 glamping units). If you feel drawn to this then reply to this email and I'll send further details when I have them. Spaces will be allocated on a 'first come first serve' basis. As our first silent retreat we will be keeping prices low and accessible. Upcoming EventsMonthly In Person Meetup We meet on the last Monday of every month to explore living from the 'heart' rather than the 'head', what's true and other such topics. The next meeting is on 28th September, 12pm for a 12.30pm start until 2pm. Nancy Potter House, Topsham, Devon, Exe-ercise Meeting Room, upstairs. £10 per session. Book and pay using this link. Ways To Work With MeRead my books I've written two books, both of which invite you to experiment and explore living life differently. The first, The Truth Beyond Thought; Experiments To Rediscover Peace & Freedom, helps guide you to first seeing what you're not, to remembering what you are. The second, Intuition Experiment, is a combination of book and journal, and invites you into a month-long experiment to living life from intuition rather than conditioned habitual thinking. Both are available to download on my website as PDF's or on Amazon as e-books or physical books. The Intuition Experiment Community This is my supportive monthly membership that you can join and leave at any time, to explore living more from intuition (or 'true self') than from conditioned, habitual thoughts. It's where I'm most active in supporting individuals to live a free-er life outside of my 1:1 work. If you find yourself wanting to live life differently, then join this lovely small community to transition to a new paradigm. One where more ease and flow is available, more of the time. Full details here. 1:1 Coaching/Mentoring I have space for a couple of people in my 1:1 work. If you'd like more personalised support to live a life of freedom then book a free exploratory call to see if we might be a good fit to work together. The call itself may be enough to move you forward... Until next time, happy experimenting. Much love, Vicki Vicki Montague |
