Time For You To Be...

Hello Reader,

I've got a quick question for you today...

How often do you simply, Be?

By that I mean, how often do you 'let yourself off the hook?' How often do you simply give some time and space to Being, rather than filling every moment of your day with Doing?

I'm guessing that most of you will answer that question with a typical response in the Western world, which is that you spend almost all of your waking hours Doing. And I would guess that most, if not all of that Doing, is driven by habitual, conditioned thoughts that tell you what you should be doing?

Now I want to be clear before I continue, that I have no problem with Doing at all. If I have any problem at all, it's with the endless Doing that is driven by the mind and it's stories of 'should' 'ought' 'must' and 'have to'. Those stories can get us into a whole heap of exhaustion, stress, anxiety and general 'bother'.

And I know, because I have been the Queen of Doing (and, at times, I can still be driven by that inner 'work bitch', but much more rarely these days).

With AI rapidly progressing in the world I'm on a mission to help people become more at ease with less Doing and more Being.

After all, if you look at our ancestors, before the industrial revolution, if there was something to be done to secure food, water or shelter, it would have been done. Once achieved, rest would have happened. It's why the factory owners created schools - to get people to work set hours, rather than only working until they'd earned enough money to pay for food and housing!

If you look in nature you see this pattern too.

When birds have babies to create and rear you see huge amounts of activity; courting, creating nests and collecting enough food for themselves and their offspring. The rest of the year they fly about, collect a few grubs and worms and don't spend inordinate amounts of time creating nests and things that aren't necessary at that moment in time.

Ask yourself how much time you spend doing things that aren't needed, right now, but 'might be needed in the future'.

Isn't that the definition of madness? Doing things based on an imaginary, made up, future...created simply from thoughts right now?

What if the more time you spend simply Being, the more resourced you are for doing the doing that needs to be done, at the time it needs doing?!

In other words, the more time you spend fully in this moment, responding to what is required in this moment, the more calm, connected and capable you are to deal with whatever life has to throw at you.

I'm therefore here with two invitations:

The first is to join me this Thursday lunchtime, 1pm GMT, for a free Intuitive Doodling session on the Insight Timer App. I find it incredibly relaxing to simply let lines and patterns emerge on a page, without thought, or purpose, and I'd love to share the process with you (it really is very simple and no artistic or creative talent is required). It's an opportunity to simply Be and watch what emerges from there.

The second is to join me and Lucy Sheffield in the beautiful Devon countryside for our annual mindful art retreat. We call it an art retreat but in reality it is a space to let go, be looked after (we have the best chef to feed us) and to connect to nature, aka yourself.

We'll be inviting participants to follow their knowing in whatever way makes sense. We'll be supplying the art materials and food. All you need to do is show up with a tent, or van (there may also be glamping units available to hire still) and step into freedom (not giving a monkeys what the mind has to say!).

No artistic talent is required - we can share techniques if desired - but our aim is to help participants to connect to, and express, whatever is felt in the moment. Nobody has to see anything you create AND, I know from experience, that you can be surprised by what gets created too.

If you feel called to this then you'll find more details here. I'm also willing to have a chat with you if you're not sure but feel this might be for you. Just hit reply and we can set something up.

That's all from me today. Happy experimenting.

Much love,

Vicki

Upcoming events

Monthly In Person Meetup

We meet on the last Monday of every month to explore living from the 'heart' rather than the 'head', what's true and other such topics.

The next meeting is on 29th June, 12pm for a 12.30pm start until 2pm. Nancy Potter House, Topsham, Devon, Exe-ercise Meeting Room, upstairs. £10 per session.

Book and pay using this link.

Mindful/Intuitive Art Retreat: 15th - 18th May

Again I'm joining Lucy Sheffield to create a long weekend of connecting to nature and following intuition to paint and create in a field in Devon. There are a couple of spaces left. If you'd like one you can find out more here.

Nature Wellbeing Walk - Listening For a Feeling: 25th July 10.30am - 12pm

I'm teaming up with Rebecca Abrahams, a qualified therapist who has experience of connecting and restoring both nature and human health and wellbeing, to deliver a 90 minute guided walk on Woodbury Common, Devon. We will be encouraging a connection to both intuition and nature through deep listening and creativity.

The session is free but places are limited to 16 so if you'd like a spot reply to this email and I'll put you on the list before it is widely advertised.

Ways To Work With Me

Read my books

I've written two books, both of which invite you to experiment and explore living life differently. The first, The Truth Beyond Thought; Experiments To Rediscover Peace & Freedom, helps guide you to first seeing what you're not, to remembering what you are. The second, Intuition Experiment, is a combination of book and journal, and invites you into a month-long experiment to living life from intuition rather than conditioned habitual thinking. Both are available to download on my website as PDF's or on Amazon as e-books or physical books.

The Intuition Experiment Community

This is my supportive monthly membership that you can join and leave at any time, to explore living more from intuition (or 'true self') than from conditioned, habitual thoughts. It's where I'm most active in supporting individuals to live a free-er life outside of my 1:1 work. If you find yourself wanting to live life differently, then join this lovely small community to transition to a new paradigm. One where more ease and flow is available, more of the time. Full details here.

1:1 Coaching/Mentoring

I have space for a couple of people in my 1:1 work. If you'd like more personalised support to live a life of freedom then book a free exploratory call to see if we might be a good fit to work together. The call itself may be enough to move you forward...
